Game cancellations
Extreme weather from tropical storm Fay caused the cancellation of the BCHS football scrimmage versus Metter, two BCHS softball games last week, versus Savannah Country Day and Savannah Christian, and the annual ‘Battle in the Boro’ weekend softball tournament, which both BCHS and RHHS were slated to compete in.
Softball field update
School Superintendent Dr. Sallie Brewer gave an update on the softball fields at the Aug. 25 called BoE meeting.
"Softball fields are on schedule, as far as I know," Brewer said. "We wanted to do this so it wouldn’t interfere with play or practice. In North Bryan, there isn’t an issue. Because of the closeness of the facilities at Richmond Hill, the only way they can lay the pole was to lay it across the field. At that point, we started talking with (Coach) Hires about where we can go. They tell me they are holding a rec field for use so we don’t miss anything." Where the poles were originally placed in the drawing, one pole placement had to be changed on the actual field
"Even though the girls will have to play on the other field, it should not impact their season," Brewer said. "The issue with the whole process was it takes six weeks. There was no quick fix to that. It’s one of those things, the planning was right but then when they got there and the pole wouldn’t work where they meant to put it, the plans had to change."
