Wednesday night the Redskins hosted Southeast Bulloch in a non-region baseball and JV-varsity doubleheader.
Ricky Myrick took the mound for the Redskins with Andrew Cook as the starting catcher.
The Redskins, having suffered from a number of errors in previous games, faired no better against SEB and came away with an 13-7 loss
The first three SEB batters recorded hits, scoring two before the Redskin defense could slow down the Jackets’ drive.
The Redskins came to bat in the bottom of the first and recorded two hits with singles from Myrick and Wesley Wilkes but where unable to put anything on the board.
The Redskins, hoping to control the Jackets in the second inning, took the field but multiple errors and four SEB hits put five runs on the board before right fielder Justin Covington would turn a double play by relaying a caught fly ball to Cook to end the inning.
The Redskins once again came to bat and managed to close the gap somewhat with a single from Kurt Shuman to centerfield and double from Bryce Mingledorf to deep centerfield.
Shuman scored on a passed ball to the catcher and Mingledorf, stole third and home to score the Redskins second run of the night.
The second inning ended with the Skins down by five runs.
But SEB was not about to let up and two hits and several errors later ended their third at bat with 11 total runs.
The Redskins, determined not to give up, came to bat and quickly scored two hits with a single fromCook between the shortstop and third and another single from Myrick that blew past the SEB shortstop.
Trey Boatright’s sac fly to right field scored Cook but that would end the Redskins’ drive and the third inning leaving the Skins down 11-3.
The Redskins managed to gain control of the errors but gave up two more SEB runs in the remainder of the game.
Wilkes would hit two more singles, Donnie Miles recorded a single, and Shuman’s single to centerfield with 2 RBIs brought the Redskins to seven runs but they were unable to recover from the damage caused in the beginning of the game.
Wilkes took over as pitcher in the top of the fourth inning. Myrick recorded two strikeouts and Wilkes recorded seven strikeouts.
The Redskins JV team did not fare much better and lost their matchup 14-2 to the SEB JV team.
