Richmond Hill High School fell 28-10 to Region 1-6A foe Camden County on Friday in Kingsland.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 6-1 overall and into a four-way tie for second place in the region.

After Camden County opened the scoring, Richmond Hill, which plays host to unbeaten and No. 4-ranked Valdosta on Friday, tied the game at 7-7 on its opening possession on a 25-yard scoring strike from Kirk Scott to Colton Sanchez.

The Wildcats’ only other score came on a 39-yard field goal from Cannon Kuriya in the fourth quarter. By then, Camden led 21-10 and tacked on a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

Notes: Joshua Troupe and Gabe Bauman were named the Plantation Lumber & Hardware players of the game for RHHS.

Troupe carried the ball 20 times for 86 yards while Bauman finished with nine total tackles.

Scott was 3-of-4 for 39 yards with one TD and one interception. Gunnar Mobley completed three passes in seven attempts for 28 yards.

In addition to Sanchez’ touchdown reception, Nick Swain caught two passes for 24 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Lee Johnson recorded seven total tackles and Tad Christman finished with four tackles and a sack.

Kuriya also tacked on an extra point for the Wildcats.

While Valdosta (7-0, 2-0) currently sits alone in first place, Richmond Hill is tied with Camden County (6-1, 1-1), Lowndes (6-1, 1-1) and Colquitt County (4-3, 1-1) for second.

Rankings: Valdosta isn’t Region 1-6A’s only ranked team. Colquitt County is currently No. 10 after narrowly losing to Valdosta, 7-3, last week.

The upcoming game between Valdosta and Richmond Hill will be the last played at the Wildcats current stadium, according to the school.

Kickoff on Friday is set for 7:30 p.m.
