Despite little advance notice, hundreds of music lovers gathered in J.F. Gregory Park Saturday for Rock the Hill Fest, a concert to benefit a local teen battling cancer.
The concert, which boasted around 10 bands ranging from Christian rock and praise bands to scream-o musicians, was held to help 19-year-old Garrett McGuire, a Richmond Hill High School graduate who was diagnosed with leukemia in November.
The event was the brainchild of Tyler Toms, a senior at Liberty County High School and friend of McGuire family who wanted to help as much as he could.
"Knowing Garrett and seeing how much their family is going through I didn't just want to stand by," Toms said.
