Phil Lienert, Communications and Government Affairs Manager for parent company LG Energy Solution, has released a statement on behalf of HL-GA Battery Company after one worker was declared dead after a fatal forklift accident on Friday afternoon.

The statement reads: “Recently, there was a tragic incident at the site of our manufacturing facility in Bryan County which resulted in a fatality. We express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of the deceased. We are offering support services and have paused operations to reinforce safety protocols. We are fully cooperating with OSHA on the investigation.”

The release also clarified that HL-GA Battery Company is not run by Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), despite the facility being located on the Bryan County Megasite.

According to HMGMA officials, a forklift struck a worker at approximately 4:45 p.m., resulting in fatal injuries to the male victim. The incident is currently under investigation.
