This is the Thanksgiving season and is a reminder that we have so much to be thankful for. Have you ever sat down and made a list of those things that you need to be thankful for.
The Apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 9:15 tells us what that should be. He says it this way, “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”. This is referring to the gift of salvation made possible through the sacrificial death of Jesus.
If you are a believer in Jesus and have received forgiveness, peace, and eternal life made possible through Him, then you are a recipient of the greatest gift offered to mankind.
The most common verse in the Bible speaks of this gift given by God in John 3:16 where it says, “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
If we will take the time to think about it, we could make a long list of things to be thankful for. The biblical author James gives God credit when he states, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights...”
I encourage you to start a list of all God is to you like being loving, faithful, merciful, caring, all-powerful, and just.
hen one for all He does for you. He is our healer, our deliver, our provider, our guide, our friend, and He gives us hope, grace and peace.
We can thank Him for our hearing, sight, freedom, food, water, clothing, and shelter.
What about our conveniences like the stove we cook on, our refrigerator, washer and dryer, heating and air, the automobiles we drive and the gas to go in them? This list is not complete, but you make yours and add to this.
The last thing I want to say is that we should be thankful for our family and friends that do so much for us.
May we not only use this time of year to be thankful but each and every day.
