The vast majority of people, with few exceptions, start putting away the signs of Christmas shortly after Christmas day. Christmas trees, lights, wreaths, decorations and manger scenes are stored away until the next season. Some even take off their spiritual clothing until the next year, meaning that the Christ of Christmas isn’t thought about until next year’s Christmas services.
The truth of the matter is that the Savior who came as a baby in a manger grew up to die on the cross for the sins of the world and is still saving people. The salvation He offered puts those who will accept Him into a loving relationship with God, the Father. This relationship is something we celebrate and participate in daily, not once or twice a year.
Maybe this is the big difference between those who acknowledge Christ’s existence and those who trust in Him for their salvation. Those who know Him worship and give thanks to Him on a regular basis, while those who know about Him think of Him occasionally like during the Christmas season. The great news is that for any who want that relationship with God, that comes through what Jesus has done for them, can have it. Anyone who chooses to accept the peace, forgiveness and eternal life can experience a Savior each and every day.
