Leading up to Christmas most people put up some kind of decorations and then there is that time after Christmas where undecorating occurs. For my home it was last Sunday evening and for the church it was this past Monday morning.
I believe the same thing happens with some people. When Christmas comes, they put on their spiritual clothes, go to a Christmas service or two, and then afterwards they take them back off till the next Christian celebration, which definitely includes Easter. I heard someone recently refer to such persons as Chreaster Christians.
The scripture teaches in Galatians 3:27 that we are to “put on Christ” as one puts on a suit of clothing. This is not something we keep taking off and then putting back on; the idea is that we keep these clothes on daily. We are not to lay aside our faith and Christian practices between Christian celebrations or even between Sundays. We are to have a desire to worship our Lord each and every day and we are to represent Him daily as well.
We are into a new year, so let each of us determine to continue or to pick up some good habits such as being regular in our worship and service of our heavenly Father.
