Taking out the trash
pastor corner

The day I am writing this is the day before trash pickup and I was just thinking that I don’t want to forget to take it out. This thought reminded me of the trash we need to keep or get out of our lives.

Hebrews 12:1 challenges us to “throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles”.

The truth is most times we are aware of those things that we need to get rid of. It is those things that keep us from being totally committed to God and His will for our lives.

There are times that we may not be aware, and this is why it is so important to go to the Lord in prayer with the same attitude of King David where he says in Psalms 139:23-24, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting”.

When we are convicted by God’s Spirit to stop doing certain things, to stop going certain places, or to stop saying certain things then we just need to stop. If we struggle, then ask the Lord to give us the power to do the right things and be willing to bring into our lives people that will hold us accountable.
