Predictions don’t always come true

The Indiana University football team was predicted to finish its season in next to last place in the conference pre-season poll and yet finished in second place in the final standings among 18 teams. The Arizona State University football team was predicted to finish last in its conference of 16 teams but ended up winning their conference championship. Both of these teams have made it into the football play-offs and very well might surprise us in how far they go.

As I thought about where these two teams are at and all they have been able to accomplish against all odds, I thought of how we sometimes look at others and predict where they might end up.

There are some who would be predicted to succeed but end up failing and yet there are some who have spiraled out of control who end up doing very well.

As Christians we must understand that Jesus can come into a person’s life, who most would think have no hope, and totally transform them into wonderful, servants of God. The Apostle Paul, in the scriptures, was a man who in his own words was the worse of sinners and became the most successful missionary in history. Paul, speaking about himself in Galatians 1:23, says it this way, “They only heard the report: The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy”.

If you don’t think you can ever change, or you are looking at others who you don’t believe can change then know that miracles still happen.
