Moses had to learn that he was the one God wanted to serve Him. His mission seemed to be overwhelming, but God was with him. If you are asking this question, “Who am I”, look to God’s word and come to know that God loves you and wants you to serve Him. You can have salvation; you must obey the gospel. Not one person is insignificant to God.
The apostle Paul was a man who had done much damage to the way of God, but he could and was saved by the blood of Christ. When the Lord appeared to him on the road to Damascus he was told to go into the city, and it would be told him what to do. Ananias taught Paul about Christ and then Paul asked the question, “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16). Paul obeyed the gospel and was forgiven of his sins. Paul realized that God’s love was for him if he would obey God’s word.
When Moses finally realized he could do great things if he only listened to God, his life changed dramatically. He became the leader of God’s people, leading them to the promised land. This was not an easy task. The people whom Moses led rebelled against God several times. They showed a lack of faith in God. When they left the land of Egypt, they had to cross the Red Sea. Pharoah and his army were chasing the Israelites. With the Red Sea on one side and the enemy behind them the people were wanting to go back to Egypt. Moses showed that faith in God will prevail. As God directed him, Moses stretched out his hand over the sea and the Lord parted the sea by a strong east wind. The children of Israel were able to cross the sea on dry land. As the Egyptians tried to cross the sea, the Lord caused the sea to collapse on them. Moses had the faith to trust in God’s deliverance.
Today God’s word says that it is by baptism that man’s sins are forgiven. Some lack the faith to believe this fact. Notice the words of Paul concerning baptism. “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (Rom. 6:3 – 5). Then he wrote, “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27). Just as obedience to God was able to deliver Moses and the Israelites, obedience to God will deliver man today.
Moses was able to lead God’s people to the promise land. If one obeys God today becoming a Christian, they too can lead others to the promise land – heaven. Jesus told His disciples to go into all the world and teach the gospel to every creature. In doing this one is able to lead others to God so that they can reach heaven one day.
Moses received the Law from God. This Law was to bring man to the cross when Christ’s law took effect. All this was God’s plan (Gal. 3). Follow God and His commands and heaven will be your home for eternity.
