The writer of Proverbs, in 18:22, tells us that “he who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord”.

This statement could be reversed by inserting the word “husband” as well. The point here is that marriage, with all of its challenges, is a blessing from God.

As I thought about this verse, I thought about how good and faithful my wife of almost 47 years has been throughout our marriage. She has always been a supporter and partner in my pastoral ministry for almost 46 years.

She is a hard and dedicated worker at her secular job as well as her volunteer ministries in the church. As I was thinking the other day, I don’t know of anyone else that works as hard as she does, and I don’t know of any other person who is as dedicated to what she does in life. She has been a wonderful and godly mother to our 3 children, and her grandkids have been her pride and joy. She also has put up with me for all of these years.

Today, thank the Lord for the spouse that He has brought into your life and determine to be the best spouse by God’s help that you can be.
