Being thankful for our eyes
pastor corner

This morning as I was walking and praying, I looked up and saw some beautiful foliage in front of me.

It reminded me about how precious my eyesight is. It also reminded me of the privilege I have in order to enjoy the many displays that are put up during this time of year, especially the beautiful lights of all colors sparkling through the darkness. The question may arise, who do we thank for the privilege of enjoying all the wonderful things we get to see? James 1:17 reminds us that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights”.

Yes, it is the creator of the universe who gives us all good things to enjoy.

Definitely, in my opinion, my eyesight is one of the greatest gifts I get to enjoy.

I have always felt sorry for those who have been born blind or who have lost their sight because of their inability to enjoy so much beauty that surrounds us. But the truth of the matter is that as believers in Jesus, we are promised new bodies, which will include new eyes which will be able to gaze on the beauty of all God has prepared for us in heaven for eternity.

So, each day may we not take for granted all of the beauty around us and not fail to give thanks for the ability to be able to enjoy it.
