The most influential person in history is the one that we hear a lot about during this time of year. Jesus Christ is at the center of the Easter season and through the life that He lived, His death, burial, and resurrection, He has influenced billions around the world to exercise faith in Him. He is able to offer peace, hope, and eternal life. He said Himself in John 8:12 that He is the light of the world, providing a way out of the darkness.
The truth is that after the resurrection and ascension back to the throne of God, He left the responsibility of being shining lights to us, His followers. In other words, we have now been given the task of being influencers. In Matthew 5, Jesus said these challenging words, “You are the salt of the earth”, and “you are the light of the world.”
We can never provide the forgiveness of sins or eternal life to others, but we can direct others to the one who can. We can also live a life that exemplifies what one that trusts in Jesus looks like. We can be a person of influence.
