Attitudes in life, part 2
pastor corner

The attitude one has towards others is important. In fact, it has led to many people sinning when they did not mean to sin. It is important for those who Christians to remember to have the attitude of Jesus at all times.

Paul wrote some great advice about anger, (Eph.4:26). We must not hold grudges and bitterness in our hearts toward others.

These attitudes can and does affect our worship to God.

“Therefore, if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift” (Matt. 5:23,24).

In Paul’s description of love, he spoke of the attitude Christians should have in dealing with each other especially. “Charity suffereth long and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;” (1 Cor. 13:4-5). Christians must be able to bear some things, talk out problems, and work together in love for each other and the Lord. We can also have a dangerous attitude toward God. Some think that God does not mean what He says.

They must have forgotten that God cannot lie (Titus1: 2).

God has promised man that heaven awaits all who will obey Him. He has provided the means for man’s justification – the giving of Christ on Golgotha’s cross.

He has given man his word to read and study so that we are not left to guess what is pleasing to God.

God wants all men to be saved, “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:3, 4).

Many in our world are indifferent to God and His teachings; this is a very dangerous attitude. This attitude is due in part to humanistic teachings, and to the teaching of the false THEORY of evolution.

If one believes these two ideas, then there is no place for God. Others believe in God but have fallen into the doctrine of Calvinism which teaches that if you are saved, there is no way for you to be lost, and if you are lost there is no way for you to be saved.

This doctrine has and will cause many souls to be lost in hell.

Another attitude toward God that is extremely dangerous is that of not trusting in Him. This attitude can lead Christians away from God, though they believe they are faithful followers.

We must realize that God expects us to do all we can do for ourselves, but there comes a time when we must leave (whatever the situation) things to God. We can work and pray, but our trust must be in Him. Our dollar bill has “In God We Trust”, yet how many trust the dollar more than they trust God.

Let us make sure we keep the right attitude in all that we do, so that we will be pleasing to God. Obeying the gospel, by being baptized for the remission of your sins, and then living for God each day will help us keep a great attitude.
