Juanita Weathers Butler

Pembroke

Mrs. Juanita Weathers Butler, age 75 died Tuesday evening after an extended illness. Mrs. Butler was a retired seamstress having worked in the manufacturing of clothing in both Claxton and Pembroke for most of her adult life. She was a dedicated member of Northside Baptist Church for over 30 years and a devoted mother who loved to cook. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, fishing, and working in her yard.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years Lucious Billy "Gabby" Butler of Pembroke; 3 daughters and son-in-laws Wanda and Andy Newman of Pembroke, Nancy and Johnny Robinson of Macon, and Dianne "Tiny" and Randy Newman of Bulloch County; 4 sons and daughter-in-laws James R. "Scooter" and Linda K. "Woodie" Hansford of Pembroke, Wade Bragg of Savannah, John Bragg of Pembroke and Ken and Wendy Butler of Pembroke; 3 sisters Francis White, Cape Canaveral, FL, Betty Porter of Savannah, and Shirley Collins of Pembroke, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home. Burial followed in Northside Cemetery. Flanders Morrison Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Daniel W. Delano

Pembroke

Mr. Daniel W. Delano age 59, of Pembroke died Sunday afternoon after a brief illness. Mr. Delano was a service advisor for Volvo of Savannah, and by trade he was a certified A+ computer technician with multiple certifications in printer reports, and a Veteran of the United States Army. He loved rescuing animals, enjoyed doing handyman work around the house, and had an excellent sense of humor. He has been quoted as saying "I’m the funniest guy that I know".

He is survived by his wife of 10 years Darlene Delano of Pembroke, Six daughters, Dawn and Eric Koch, Kim and Clint Wilkinson, Sharlene and Brian Conley, Stephanie Hilliard and her fiancée Kelly Bacon, Shannon and Jason Weeks, and Stacie Driggers and her fiancée Stephen Beasley, all of Pembroke, mother Lucille Kucklentz of Jacksonville, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews all of Jacksonville.

The funeral was held on Thursday October 4, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Harold O’Neal Officiating. 

Flanders Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wallace "Joey" Gary Jr.

Pembroke

Wallace Gary Jr. passed on to eternal rest on Sept. 28. Funeral Services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 6 at Pembroke United Methodist Church.

Wallace "Joey" Gary Jr., beloved son of Wallace Gary Sr. and Eliza M. Hagans, began his life on Dec. 30 1969 in Kings County, Brooklyn, N.Y. He attended school in Pembroke, graduating from Bryan County High School in June of 1988. He furthered his education at Kansas State University then graduated from DeVry University in Dallas, Texas.

Wallace joined the Army in 1988 and served as an airborne communications specialist in the 82nd Division. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Victoria Kuntumi Conteh on July 1, 2000, and had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Wallace began his career in the field of computer systems in Dallas, Texas.  He later moved back to Georgia where he and his wife began their own business in Pembroke.

He leaves loving memories to be cherished to his loving wife of seven years Victoria Gary; his mother Eliza M. Hagans; his father Wallace (Mazie) Gary Sr.; sister Lavoris (Mark) Wells, sister Laverne (Herman) Haggray; sister Wanda (Michael) Grant; sister JoAnne Gary; brother Jerome (Paula) Gary; nephew Desmond Haggray; nephew JD Anthony Wells; nephew Jonathan Grant; nephew Jordan Grant; niece Deandra Haggray; niece Janae Wells; nephew Christopher Wells; niece Milan Gary; niece Camri Gary; niece Ziporah Gary; Aunt Ruth (Sip) Benbow; aunt Sarah (Edward) Flaughter; great great aunt Roxie Williams; great aunt Mildred Simmons; Johnnie (Diane) Hagans; Levi (Louise) Hagans;  Earl Hagans; Randy (Evelyn) Rawls; Simbo Family; Brown Family; Kessebeh Family; Claye Family; Lisk Family and host of cousins, other relatives and in-laws in Sierra Leone – West Africa, the UK and the U.S. and friends at home and abroad.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Wallace Gary Jr. Memorial Fund at Heritage Bank in Pembroke.
