United Way of the Coastal Empire (UWCE) has announced a total of more than $9.4 million (projected) raised and earned to support the community in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. This figure was announced at UWCE’s “United in Gratitude” event held at Service Brewing Company on Tuesday, May 14.
For the second time in the organization’s 86-year history, three corporate donors teamed up with their employees to donate more than half a million dollars each. These donors include the people and companies of Gulfstream, Colonial Group, and Georgia Ports Authority.
Jay Wilson of International Paper served as campaign chair for the 20232024 campaign. Wilson, who championed the “We’re on a roll” theme throughout the year-long campaign said, “This region and our United Way are on a roll. I’m sincerely grateful to every person and every company who generously supported the campaign to improve lives throughout our four-county region.”
Wilson thanked everyone involved in the campaign and added “This has been an incredibly rewarding experience I will forever treasure. From the very beginning our team rolled up their sleeves and has been working hard to make this year’s campaign a success.”
“The achievements of this year’s Community Giving Campaign have truly been inspiring.
Through the caring power of our community, we are also advancing our strategic plan goals to provide a safety net for the most vulnerable and pathways for upward mobility to help everyone in our region thrive,” said 2023-2024 Board Chair Ken Rabitsch.
