Staff nurses from Skylark recently received "Forget Me Not Ultrasound" training and certification at the Brunswick Center. The training was on the clinic's newest General Electric, Versana ultrasound machine provided by a grant through the Knights of Columbus.

"Continuing education to recertify skills annually is essential to maintain a high level of competency," said Sherry Auten, Director of Nursing. "One-on-one training and assessments are vital to Skylark's professional protocol," adds Auten. All nurses at Skylark are certified and trained to perform limited obstetrical ultrasounds that confirm the viability of pregnancies as a free service for hundreds of clients each year.

Early ultrasounds help determine the baby's due date, size, the number of babies one may be carrying and allows one to see the baby's heartbeat.

Skylark offers free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and STI testing for women every day at each of their locations: Brunswick, Jesup, Kingsland, and the mobile unit servicing, Hinesville, Waycross, Nahunta, and Richmond Hill. Call (912) 267-1100 to make an appointment.
