Lavetris Singleton has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Richmond Hill City Council in the upcoming November election.
“My roots run deep in Richmond Hill. My family has been here since the early 1900s,” Singleton said in a press release. “I’ve spent my life listening to my father, who has always been proud to call this city home.” Her father, Donald Singleton, a Vietnam War veteran and long-time city advocate, has been a champion for Richmond Hill, even serving as grand marshal of the city’s parades.
Singleton said she has built a solid foundation in local government, serving as a planning commissioner for the past five years and chairwoman of the mayor’s advisory committee. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s in education, and is a graduate of Leadership Savannah (2020) and Leadership Bryan (2022). This experience and education, she said, equip her with the skills and vision necessary to represent the diverse interests of Richmond Hill.
Her platform focuses on:
• Improving Water Management Infrastructure: Developing innovative solutions to enhance stormwater drainage, sewer systems, and flood control.
• Sustainable Growth and Development: Ensuring that growth is sustainable and doesn’t deplete resources or negatively impact residents.
• Community Engagement: Increasing opportunities for residents to engage with local government and have their voices heard.
To launch her campaign, Singleton will host a series of community meetings and events to connect with residents and discuss the issues that matter most to them. She can be reached at singleton4rhcc@gmail.com
