Bryan County Schools to remain closed through Wednesday
debby 11

Bryan County Schools will stay closed through Wednesday, officials said, as "several roads are impassable, and there is a large amount of water on several school campuses."

The county is still under a Tropical Storm Warning, Storm Surge Warning, and Flash Flood Warning with a potential for 4-8 inches of additional rain. Motorists are advised to stay off the roads until Tropical Storm Debby passes the area on Wednesday.

Officials say if your power has been interrupted by the storm, please call your designated power company but be patient as worker safety comes first. You can view reported outages from Georgia power here.

If you observe downed power lines, call 911 to have the line barricaded until it can be repaired. Keep your distance.

The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center shows Debby’s center in the Savannah area, causing somewhat of a lull in the rain and wind. Debby will slowly move over coastal Georgia today, before moving offshore on Wednesday. During this time, rain will recirculate from the north back into the area. The rain and wind is not over and flooding is still possible. The threat of tornadoes has resided.

Schools, government offices and most businesses will remain closed on Tuesday.

The city of Pembroke has implemented a mandatory curfew.

Last night, Bryan County Fire & Emergency Services reported that Canterwood Drive is closed between Worthington Drive and West Hampton Drive due to severe flooding and shared the following photos.
