Pembroke’s Friends of the TOS Theatre will be hosting a ‘Big Check Ceremony’ on Wednesday, May 22 to commemorate the latest grant funding for the downtown Pembroke theatre from the Fox Theatre Institute, the Community Partnerships arm of Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, a performing arts venue.

In November 2023, it was reported in the Bryan County News that the Fox Theatre Institute awarded $25,000 to TOS Theatre to go towards revitalization efforts.

The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the theatre, located at 44 W Bacon Street in Pembroke at the corner of Bacon Street (Hwy 280) and Church Street.

The event is open to the public and will feature brief remarks from the city officials of Pembroke as well as a representative of Fox Theatre Institute. Other guests include members of the Georgia Film Commission, Georgia Tech, state representatives, local leaders, and more. Light refreshments will be provided.

The City of Pembroke is currently working in conjunction with the Downtown Development Authority and Friends of the TOS Theatre to rejuvenate the theater and add key components such as new seats and lighting.
