Old Pembroke school to become museum
Old Pembroke school

The former site of Pembroke High School and Bryan County Head Start on Harn Street in Pembroke has been torn down, apart from a single building which will be converted into a museum.

The school, known locally as the Dingle School, taught the county’s Black children in Pembroke and North Bryan in the days before integration in 1969.

The Bryan County Board of Education deeded the property over to Pembroke in 2021.

After integration the campus became Bryan County Middle School before becoming home to Head Start and Pembroke’s Coastal Georgia Authority Community Action office.
