The North Bryan Chamber of Commerce held their monthly meeting on Feb. 20 at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center in Pembroke.

More than 35 chamber members welcomed guest speaker Michelle Lawrence, Marketing Director for Underground Atlanta. Lawrence spoke to members about the importance of marketing their business to key audiences and thinking outside the box with their marketing ideas and campaigns. She also stressed the importance of good organization, strong back-up plans and excellent customer service.

After the program chamber President Mary Warnell presented Lawrence with a basket of goods from North Bryan County. During other business Warnell announced that the chamber’s website has been fully updated. "I encourage all of you to go and take a look at our updated website at www.bryancounty.org," said Warnell. "It looks great and should prove to be very useful to current and potential new businesses, along with visitors to our area."

Warnell also noted that the chamber currently has over 65 members and is forming a membership committee to help continue with the membership drive. According to Warnell, volunteers are also being sought to form several other committees.

In other business chamber member Wynn Carney of Owens Real Estate Group thanked everyone who participated in the City of Pembroke’s Arbor Day activities. "We gave out over 60 free seedlings and had a great turnout," said Carney.

Before adjournment of the meeting the door prize of a trip to Serenity Day Spa donated by Gary and Joyce Shoemaker of Southland Property was awarded to Shania Davis of the Bryan County Cooperative Extension Office.

The next chamber meeting will be the Annual Meeting held on Tuesday, March 18 at Black Creek Golf Club at 7 p.m., with networking beginning at 6:30 p.m. A program will be presented by Barbara Christmas. Mrs. Christmas has a long and distinguished career as an educator in Georgia and abroad.
