A two-vehicle accident on Ford Avenue at Cedar Street Monday morning sent one person to the hospital and slowed traffic in both directions for nearly an hour.
The Richmond Hill police and fire departments and Bryan County Emergency Services all responded. Firefighters had to use a hydraulic rescue tool to pry open the door of the vehicle that was hit and remove the driver. He was transported to St. Joseph Hospital by ambulance.
The Richmond Hill Police Department reported that the vehicle that was hit, traveling west on Ford Avenue, stopped due to a pedestrian crossing the street and was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
