Bryan County Commission Chairman Jimmy Burnsed was the honored patient Friday at the 2011 Waiting on a Cure luncheon at the Hilton Savannah Desoto on East Liberty Street.
Benefitting the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center, Waiting on a Cure is held annually in November through the Memorial Health Foundation.
Burnsed was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2008 and was a patient at the Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial. He said his oncologist, Dr. John Duttenhaver, helped him get through all of his treatments. And because of that, Burnsed said he is clear of cancer and doing well.
