The Coastal Georgia Area Community Action Authority (CGACAA) is now accepting applications for enrollment into their Head Start, Early Head Start, and Pre-K programs for the 2023-24 school year.
In partnership with the U.S. Department of Health Services, these federally- funded programs help support children with nutritious meals, health services and transportation. Enrolled families are also provided various social services, parent involvement activities, and training opportunities.
The Early Childhood Division of the CGACAA serves prenatal women, children and families in nine different Georgia counties, including Bryan.
“Coastal Community Action’s early childhood education programs offer exceptional learning environments for children and embrace the integral role of families in their child’s development,” said Nina Bryant-Hunter, the director of CGACAA.
“Our mission goes beyond academics; it is rooted in preparing children for every possible success by nurturing collaboration among parents, teachers, and the community in building a bridge for a brighter tomorrow.”
Federal Head Start programs are open to children from birth to age 5, whereas the Pre-K program is available for fouryear olds.
Head Start provides childcare services for children ages 3-5 at licensed facilities approved by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The Early Head Start program provides infant and toddler services to help promote early developmental learning.
The Pre-K program, funded by the Georgia state lottery, provides educational activities for four-year old children in five different counties, including Bryan.
All applications are reviewed to meet federal eligibility guidelines. To enroll, complete a student enrollment application online at www.coastalgaa.org/ early-childhood-education or call (912) 262-1400.
