Former Pembroke mayor Woodrow Pickett died Monday, according to an obituary sent Tuesday from Flanders Morrison Funeral Home. Pickett was 96.
He was mayor of Pembroke from 1978 until 1990. A Jacksonville, Fla. native, he retired from the U.S. Army as a master sergeant after 26 years that included service during the Korean War.
Pickett lived in Pembroke for more than 50 years. Visitation is today from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Flanders Morrisson Funeral Home in Pembroke. The funeral is Thursday.
