Food Lion opens new Pembroke store

Starting today, neighbors in Pembroke can nourish their families at their new local Food Lion located at 540 Bacon St.

The new store will have approximately 75 associates and serve customers daily from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Food Lion recently completed the acquisition of this location, which was formerly a Harvey's Supermarket, after announcing its plans last year to acquire 62 BI-LO/Harvey's Supermarkets across the Carolinas and Georgia.

"I am thrilled to be able to reopen the new Pembroke Food Lion,” said Kimberly Bell, store manager of the new location. “I have been the store manager here for the last three years and believe this is an exciting change for our community that will offer our customers a larger variety of products. I can't wait to see our customers’ reaction to this fresh new change.”

To help introduce neighbors to the new store, welcome gifts were provided to firefighters at the Pembroke Fire Department, Bacontown Fire Department, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department and Bryan County Fire Department; faculty and staff at Bryan County Elementary School and Lanier Primary School; and staff at the Pembroke City Clerk's Office.

In another commitment to the community, through Food Lion Feeds – the retailer’s hunger-relief initiative – the retailer donated $1,500 to United Way of Bryan County, a partner agency of America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. The feeding agency will also regularly receive food from the new store to distribute to neighbors in need through Food Lion Feeds’ industry-leading food rescue program, which has helped Food Lion donate the equivalent of nearly 750 million meals since 2014.
