Every year, soil and water conservation districts in Georgia sponsor high school students to attend the Natural Resources Conservation Workshop held at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton..
The 5-day workshop allows students to take part in lectures and hands-on activities to boost their knowledge of Georgia’s vital natural resources. It also provides them with a taste of college life while delivering valuable insight into careers in agriculture and natural resources through their advisors and instructors.
Many conservation districts throughout the state also provide workshop attendees with college scholarships to further their studies in natural resources conservation. Twenty-four scholarships were awarded at this year’s event.
The recipient of the Coastal Conservation District Scholarship is Savannah Hall.of Ellabell, a junior at Bryan County High School.
The Coastal Conservation District promotes natural resource stewardship throughout Bryan, Chatham, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties. For more information about conservation districts or the Natural Resources Conservation Workshop, please visit www.gacd.us.
