The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Unit, with assistance from the Rincon Police Department K-9 Unit and Georgia State Patrol, seized thousands of dollars in drugs.

The ECSO Drug Suppression Unit conducted a surveillance operation Nov. 13 on 37-year-old William Frank Davis, of Guyton. Davis, a wanted person, has been a person of interest in an ongoing investigation into the sale of methamphetamine and Fentanyl throughout Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham counties.

Just before 8:30 p.m., members of the ECSO Drug Suppression Unit, ECSO Special Response Team (SRT) and Georgia State Patrol Troopers attempted to make contact with Davis at a residence in the Shadowbrook Subdivision. Davis ran on foot from the residence, leaving behind a large quantity of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.

Davis was apprehended shortly after with assistance from Rincon PD K-9 Unit.

The ECSO Drug Suppression Unit seized 1,803 grams (3.97 lbs.) of methamphetamine, 1,336 grams of Fentanyl (2.94 lbs.), 113 grams (4 oz.) of marijuana, 1 firearm, and items associated with the production of Fentanyl.

Evidence collected at the scene and surveillance indicated Davis was solely responsible for the narcotics that were seized.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized varies, based on purity and quantity, ranges between $50,000 to $120,000.

Davis was arrested and charged with trafficking Fentanyl, trafficking Methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and two counts of possession of a schedule II-controlled substance.
