Chris Raiford is reportedly set to announce today he is running for Richmond Hill City Council this November for the seat of retiring Councilman Les Fussell.

Raiford has worked and raised a family in Richmond Hill for over 15 years, according to a press release. He has already qualified to run for Post 3.

Raiford is no stranger to public service. He has been on the Richmond Hill Zoning and Planning committee for three years and has seen firsthand how much growth the city has had and will have, the release said, noting he is committed to protecting growth to benefit everyone in our community.

“While the growth of our city and county is exciting, with that comes complex issues,” said Raiford. “I believe it is important to maintain the balance of community and business to ensure every member of our Richmond Hill community can benefit from the growth.”

Raiford earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his master’s degree in business administration from St. Leo University. Recently, Raiford has a Ph.D. from Walden University for business management. In addition to his time volunteering on the Planning and Zoning commission, he is an active member of both the Exchange Club of Richmond Hill and Bryan County Recreation.

“I am passionate about the success of this community and would be honored to be a part of continuing that success by collaborating with the other council members to make sure Richmond Hill thrives.”

Qualifying for candidates running in the municipal elections runs through 4:30 p.m. Friday in Richmond Hill and Pembroke.
