Quartz surfaces supplier Caesarstone has announced that effective mid-January 2024, the company’s restructuring plan will entail closing the facility in Richmond Hill affecting "around 90 employees," according to site general manager Yossi Binyamin.
In a press release, the company said the move would result in savings of approximately $20 million annually by optimizing its manufacturing footprint.
“This is part of the strategic plan we are implementing to focus on product innovation, investment in our brand, improve our go to market strategy and better position Caesarstone for long-term profitable growth in the years to come,” said Yos Shiran, CEO of Caesarstone, in the aforementioned press release.
“I would like to thank the Richmond Hill Community, Bryan County, the Georgia government and all our valued employees and business partners there for their work and support over the years.”
“As a valued member of our business community, Caesarstone’s business decision to close its facility in Richmond Hill due to the need to optimize its global manufacturing footprint is disappointing news for us here in Bryan County”, said Development Authority of Bryan County Chairman Jon Seagraves and Richmond Hill Mayor Russ Carpenter in a joint statement.
“Companies sometimes have to make difficult decisions, and we will miss having them as part of our business community. We are working with the company to help affected employees find the right fit at other area businesses that can certainly use their skill sets,” said Seagraves.
“While this is an unfortunate development, the good news is that we have many manufacturing jobs available in the region that could deliver new opportunities for these hardworking Caesarstone alumni.”
