The Richmond Hill Lions Club is proud to announce the 2024 Richmond Hill High School STAR Student, Ella Blakeborough.  Ella, who is also the Bryan County School System winner, will compete later in March with other school system winners for Region Recognition.   Ella is the daughter of Janine and Russ Blakeborough.  She earned the recognition for academic achievement and performance on the SAT. Jennifer Kea, AP World History teacher at Richmond Hill High School, was selected, by Ella, as her STAR Teacher.

The Richmond Hill Lions Club is the local STAR program sponsor. Donna Hoke, Scholarship Committee Chairperson, and Sharon Brookshire, Club President, announced the honor and presented Ella with a $1,000 scholarship.  The RH Georgia Lions Club provides two scholarships each year for local graduating seniors.  One scholarship is for the Star Student and the other is selected through an application and interview process.  Applications for the second scholarship are available from the high school guidance counselor.

The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program, now in its 66th year, is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation. Since its creation, the STAR program has honored nearly 29,500 students and the teachers they have selected as having had the most influence on their academic achievement. To obtain the 2024 STAR nomination, graduating high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.
