June 14

• Neighbor issues: Two men and their juvenile sons report harassment from a neighbor for fishing the neighborhood pond. The juveniles explained that they did what their parents advised and sought permission from the property owners that live closest to the pond before being out to fish. However, despite this, the neighbor proceeded to yell and curse at the juveniles, chase them down on her vehicle while they drove away on their golf cart, and threw rocks at them. Officers were unable to confront the neighbor in question due to not knowing her physical address and due to her leaving the area before the officers’ arrival.

• Vehicle damage: A woman reports to officers that while driving South on Interstate 95, a vehicle that overtook her in the lane had an object fly out from the drivers’ side in the shape of a brick, which hit her windshield. The woman attempted to catch up to the vehicle but it moved too far ahead of her. The only detail the woman recalled was the color of the vehicle: it was black. No injuries were reported and the vehicle could be safely driven home by its owner.

• No insurance or registration: An officer patrolling Hwy 17 Northbound noticed a silver Jeep that was blocking and impeding traffic on both northbound lanes on Hwy 17, as the driver was attempting to cross from the far right of the highway to the far left during heavy traffic. The license plate on the Jeep, according to a search through GCIC, had no valid insurance and suspended registration. Once the traffic light at the intersection had turned green, the officer activated his emergency lights, causing the driver of the Jeep to pull into the parking lot of the Fairbridge Inn motel off of Hwy 17. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer advised the driver that the vehicle had no valid insurance or registration and requested their driver’s license. The driver then insisted that she had valid insurance and advised that she could provide documentation of such. The driver was cited for no insurance, given a warning for suspended registration, and was provided with a tow form for her towed vehicle.

• Domestic disturbance: Officers dispatched to Ellabell for a domestic disturbance call. A woman reports her boyfriend, who was intoxicated, arriving at her residence and starting an argument. The woman did not want to press charges.

Upon arrival the officer spoke with an employee who advised that a man and woman came to the store and the man stole “at least a box of toilet paper”, containing 6 packs of toilet paper. Officer was informed that one of the employees was able to get the vehicle’s registration. Officer observed the security camera footage and observed the vehicle, a gray Dodge Grand Caravan with tinted headlights, arrive in the parking lot at 1052 hours; male and female occupants enter the building at 10:57 hours; the female exited the store at 11:52 hours; followed by the male at 11:53 hours; the male began looking at the items outside of the store at 12:01 hours; entered the store again at 12:05 hours; the male then exits the store again at 12:06 hours. At this point the male grabs the box of toilet paper, enters the vehicle and leaves the parking lot. A receipt was provided for the value of the items stolen, (6) packs of toilet paper valued at $5.95 per unit, taxes valued at $2.86, total valuing $38.56. It is unknown at this time if any other items were stolen during the incident. The store manager declined to press charges.

• 911 hang-up: Deputy responds to an address due to a 911 hang-up. Officer encounters a gentleman who waves his arms to catch the officer’s attention. The gentleman explains that a man was stealing things from his front yard, and that his neighbors call the police for him. The gentleman knew the man from his relationship with his sister in 2016. The gentleman explained that he was in his home when his dog alerted him, and when he went outside, he saw the man taking the items from his front yard.

The driver said that his car had a bad oil leak; the deputy and the driver kept talking, and the deputy noted that the driver looked familiar. The driver voluntarily gave his name and the deputy asked another deputy if there were warrants on that man; the second deputy responded in the affirmative. The deputy then asked the driver for his license to confirm. The driver in question was wanted out of Glynn County. Deputy had contacted dispatch to confirm the warrant and to ask Glynn County if they wanted to put a hold on the driver, and they said yes. The deputy arrested the driver and transported him to jail

The man stated that he went into the direction his dog was facing while barking and observed a reflective vest in the brush approximately 5-10 feet across the fence dividing his property and his neighbor’s property. The man stated he used a “pole” to get the vest and observed the identification card in the breast pocket. The man checked for missing, moved or damaged items, which he advised there were none. The officer used the address listed on the identification card to attempt to speak to the vest’s owner. The deputy spoke with a male juvenile, who said that he was the man’s son and that his father was at work and would return later. The deputy returned to the address and spoke with the man, who stated that his son (whom the deputy first encountered earlier) was using his reflective vest as a makeshift hunting vest while playing with another juvenile. • Animal complaint: Deputy was dispatched in regards to an animal complaint. On arrival, the deputy spoke to a man who works for a company that delivers for Amazon. The man was delivering a package when he came down the residence’s driveway, and a white dog came running toward him. The man continued, stating that he had to use the box to block the dog from physically contacting him. The man then stated this has been an ongoing occurrence with the dog when delivering packages.
