July 14
Lost/mislaid property
• Woman reports missing black Lululemon crossbody bag, Nissan Rogue car key, and pink Yeti water bottle. She said that she set those items on a park bench by the pond in order to go for a walk, and when she returned to the bench to seek out her belongings, the belongings were gone. A report was filed.
Disorderly conduct
• Woman reports that her neighbor has been acting strangely, causing issues such as blowing air horns at her dogs when they bark in the morning.
Failure to stop at a stop sign, no driver’s license/unlicensed operator, no insurance
• Traffic stop conducted after a vehicle failed to stop at the intersection of Hwy 280 and Hwy 204. Driver cited for the above offenses and taken to Bryan Co. Jail. Vehicle towed.
Criminal Trespass
• Deputy dispatched in reference to an unwanted person on someone’s property.
Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer
• On I-95 South (85 milepost), a deputy observed a black motorcycle going 130 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. Deputy pursued the motorcycle to the 76 mile post in Liberty County and back Northbound on I-95 to the 94 milepost in Chatham. The motorcycle excited I-95 onto SR 204 at a high rate of speed and the pursuit was discontinued. Motorcycle hit speeds in excess of 180 MPH.
Warrant executed
• Deputy entered the registration of a vehicle to check for valid registration and insurance; the GCIC return showed the registered owner had an active warrant for probation violation. Driver stopped and placed under arrest, sent to Bryan Co. Jail.
Verbal Dispute
• Deputy responds to two women arguing in a front yard at a residence.
Driving while license suspended or revoked
• Vehicle traveling westbound on Hwy 280, traveling 71 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Driver stopped; license is revealed to have been suspended for failure to appear. Driver placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license.
Speeding in excess of maximum limits, no driver’s license/unlicensed operator
• Vehicle traveling 68 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Driver arrested for the above offenses.
July 15
Theft by conversion - felony
• Deputies respond to a theft by conversion case involving an estate inheritance case.
Warrant executed
• Deputies respond to Dollar General (Porterfield Rd.) in reference to a criminal trespass. General manager cites a man who frequently comes to the store and steals items. After a brief search of the area, deputies locate the man in question, who also has an outstanding warrant with Bryan County. Man placed under arrest and sent to Bryan County Jail.
Theft by Taking - Motor Vehicle
• Man reports white four-door 2007 Toyota Tundra stolen. Report filed.
No drivers’ license/unlicensed operator, impeding the flow of traffic, failure to maintain lane
• Driver arrested for the above offenses. Vehicle towed.
Following too closely, driving while license suspended or revoked
• Driver arrested for the above offenses. Vehicle towed.
July 16
Lost/mislaid property
• Deputies dispatched in response to stolen medication.
Criminal Trespass/Damage to Property
• Deputies dispatched to the Hyundai Megasite in response to a damage to property report. Woman reports damage to her vehicle at approximately 06:00 hours. Scratches were seen on the rear passenger door. The woman further explains that the driver of a vehicle parked beside hers opened their door with force, causing it to hit her rear passenger door. The woman reported pictures of the suspect vehicle’s license plate and parking pass. A report was filed.
Failure to dim headlights, driving while license suspended or revoked, open container of alcohol in motor vehicle
• Driver arrested, cited for the above offenses. Vehicle towed.
July 17
Fire - structure
• Bryan County 911 informed units of a residential structure fire on Belfast Keller Road. Upon deputies’ arrival, the residence was fully ablaze with all of its occupants out of the residence. The scene was turned over to Bryan County Fire who began extinguishing the fire.
Failure to dim headlights, DUI - less safe (drugs)
• Driver arrested for the above offenses.
Driving while license suspended or revoked
• Driver arrested for the above offense. Vehicle taken home by a licensed driver.
Aid to other agency
• Deputies respond in reference to a stolen vehicle out of Savannah.
July 18
Warrant executed
• Man was placed under arrest at Bryan County Courthouse for active warrants.
Burglary
• Deputies respond to a residence reporting stolen goods. Woman reports multiple tools and groceries stolen from her house. Items include: Kobalt drill, two Kobalt chargers, and fifteen dollars worth of groceries. The woman further explains that the drill was left out in the open because she was working on her sink. The woman further reports that the ball hitch to her truck was underneath her sink and that was missing too. Jewelry box underneath her bed was also pulled out and opened. Due to no security cameras at the residence, it is unknown who the suspect is at this time.
Warrant served
• Deputies respond to a possible stolen vehicle report. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was not stolen and that the issue was a civil matter. Man accused of stealing the vehicle, however, had a warrant out of Effingham County. Man was placed under arrest and sent to Effingham County Sheriff ’s Office.
July 19
Dogs/Cats running loose
• Man reports two large dogs belonging to his next-door neighbor were coming to his yard, barking and attacking him and his partner. Numerous attempts were made to contact the owners, but no one came out. Animal Control was notified, and they said that they will attempt to reach the owner.
Methamphetamine - possession of, DUI - child endangerment, misdemeanor, failure to maintain lane, possession of marijuana, possession and use of drug related objects
• Driver arrested for the above offenses.
July 20
Damage to property
• Deputies were dispatched to Interstate 16 Westbound between the weigh station and Olive Branch Road in reference to a two vehicle accident.
July 21
Damage to Property
• Deputies dispatched to a residence in response to damage to property. Complainant said that she discovered that her front screen door’s glass had been damaged. Complainant advised that she heard ‘a loud bang’ at 1200 hours, which made her believe that her door was damaged by a firearm. Deputies did not find evidence of bullet impacts near or at the door but were unable to determine what caused the window to break due to the window already collapsing. Complainant was provided with a case number and was advised on how to obtain a copy of the report.
No drivers’ license/unlicensed operator, no insurance, knowingly driving motor vehicle on suspended, canceled or revoked registration
• Driver arrested for the above offenses.
Damage to property
• Deputy dispatched to residence in response to damage to property. Complainant advised that on Jul. 16, at approximately 1800-2000 hours, a 4-seat Utility Side-by-Side drove around his property, which is currently under construction. Complainant claimed that they drove around the backside of the property, running over both a propane tank and sprinkler head, both of which were not damaged at the time of the report. The side-by-side also left a trail around the property, causing minor damage to the grass. Complainant advised that he wanted to make a report of the incident in case it continued to happen. Complainant was provided with a copy of the case number and was advised on how to obtain a copy of the report.
DUI - less safe (alcohol), failure to dim headlights, failure to maintain lane
• Driver issued citations for the above offenses. Driver transported to the Bryan County Jail without incident.
Burglary - 2nd degree (felony)
• Deputy responds in reference to a series of burglaries. Complainant, a site supervisor for Smith Family Homes, advised that three residences they were constructing had been “burglarized” between 16:00 hours on Jul 19 and 08:00 hours on Jul 22. The complainant was able to show the electrical boxes where someone had come in and cut out the breakers only leaving the snipped wires behind. Deputy was further advised this would be about $1,000 in repair cost per residence. Lot 56, 57, and 62 were the residences where these thefts occurred.
Deputy advised the complainant that night shift deputies would be notified to patrol this area.
DUI (alcohol), driving
too fast for conditions.
• Dispatch advised of a vehicle (green Lexus) failing to maintain its lane of travel. Dispatch then advised that the vehicle had crashed into a ditch on Hwy 280 near Osteen Rd.
Vehicle located, and the driver was arrested for the above offenses.
July 22
Driving while license suspended or revoked, blue light restrictions on vehicles • Driver arrested for the above offenses.
July 23
Animal Complaint
• Woman reports that two large, shepherd-style dogs are chasing away her chickens. Woman explains that five chickens were missing from her coupe, and that she doesn’t know how those dogs got the coupe open.
