July 5 Warrant executed, tail lights/lens required

• Traffic stop in the area of Hwy 204 at Adren Loop Cir. Deputy noted the vehicle traveling 70 MPH in a 55 MPH. When the vehicle stopped, the deputy noted that the passenger-side brake light was out. Deputy also noted that the driver had a warrant out for his arrest. Deputy arrested the driver and transferred him to Bryan County Jail without incident. Driver given a warning for speeding and a citation for the light.

Holding/Supporting wireless communication, driving while license suspended or revoked, theft by shoplifting

• While on routine patrol in the area of Hwy 144 and US 17, the deputy noticed a driver with her phone to her face and appeared to be texting. Deputy followed the driver and conducted a traffic stop. Deputy cited the driver for the hands-free law and for driving on a suspended license. The driver also revealed that she shoplifted from CVS Pharmacy. The items totalled $95 before taxes. The driver was transported to the Bryan Co. Sheriff ’s Office in Pembroke.

Damage to property

• Complainant reports that she was traveling on Belfast Keller near the new High School Construction site when a LEE electrical company truck almost hit her vehicle. She then swerved to avoid the truck, hitting one of the traffic safety drum barrels. Damage to the complainant’s vehicle included minor scratches on the front fender and a small hole in the radiator grille. Compliant reports that she did not report the accident initially, as she spoke to the driver who gave her his Company’s contact information. When the complainant contacted the company, the employee she spoke to said “if there is no accident report, then there is no accident.” Deputy advised the complainant that this is a civil matter and that she can file a statement of claim through the clerk of courts on collecting any monetary expenses for her vehicle’s damage.

No proof of insurance, knowingly driving motor vehicle on suspended/revoked registration

• Traffic stop on Hwy 144-East.

Driver given citations for the above offensives; car towed.

July 6 Simple assault

• Deputies were dispatched to the North Bryan County Sheriff ’s Office. Man reports that he arrived at an address to conduct a showing for a client. He parked along the street because the driveway was full of cars from the previous realtor. When the man finished the showing, an unknown white male started yelling at him because he was partially blocking his driveway located nearby. The complainant started apologizing to the man, but the unknown subject kept yelling. The complainant feared for his safety and ran to his car, got it in, and drove away. The complainant wished to charge the subject with simple assault; however, the deputy said he would not do so due to lack of probable cause but told the complainant that he could go apply for a warrant at the Magistrate Office if he feels that he has enough probable cause to do so. The complainant declined and stated that he just wanted to make authorities aware of how aggressive the unknown subject may get if other realtors block the man’s driveway.

Improper U-Turn, Tag Registration Requirements, No Insurance, Revoking or affixing license plate with intent to conceal.

• Deputy conducts a traffic stop on Hwy 144 at the railroad crossing near Cherry Street. Driver placed under arrest for the above offenses.

Injuring, tearing down, or destruction of mailbox

• Deputy dispatched in response to damage to property. Complainant reports that 4 of the mailboxes on her property were broken off the post, but she was replacing them anyway. Complainant believes that it is a group of younger males that she has run off before. Complainant was told that deputies would do extra patrol around the area.

Reckless driving

• Deputy responds to Richmond Hill Rec Center at the rear parking lot in reference to a private vehicle crash that previously occurred. Upon arrival, a juvenile reported that he and his friends were doing “donuts” in the parking lot after leaving from working out at the gym. He continued and said that he lost control of the vehicle and crashed it into the trees. The juvenile was given a warning. Wrecker service was notified and responded to remove the vehicle.

Speeding in excess of maximum limits (state), driving while license suspended or revoked

• Deputy performs a traffic stop near US-17 and Cartertown Rd. Driver charged with the above offenses, sent to Bryan County Jail.

DUI-less safe (drugs), speeding in excess of maximum limits (state), display of license plates (obscuring tag)

• Deputy performs a traffic stop on GA-26 near Warnell Farm Road. Driver had a warrant out of Bulloch Co. for Battery (FVA). Bulloch did not want to place a hold on the suspect. Driver arrested and charged with the above offenses and sent to Bryan County Jail.

July 7 DUI, less safe (multiple substances), reckless driving, too fast for conditions, possession of marijuana (less than 1 oz.):

• Driver arrested for the above offenses.

Criminal Trespass:

• Deputies dispatched to Dollar General (US-280) for an unwanted individual who criminally trespassed in June 2023.

Burglary - 2nd degree (felony), theft of services (misdemeanor), possession of tools for a commission of a crime:

• Deputy was dispatched to Buckhead Storage. Man placed under arrest for the above charges.

Missing person:

• Woman reports her friend has been missing since Saturday. The friend is homeless and has been living around Love’s (Ellabell) for about six months now. The friend in question went to the hospital on Saturday and was released shortly afterward. A missing person report was filed.

Lost/mislaid property:

• Complainant says that she lost her Navy retired dependent identification card. Complainant says that it has been missing for two years now and she doesn’t know when she lost the card.

Failure to dim headlights, DUI - less safe (drugs), aggressive driving:

• Deputy does traffic stop on Hwy 280. Driver arrested for the above offenses.
