BCSO blotter: Abandoned vehicle, dog bites, and road debris

From the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

July 31

 Abandoned vehicle

• A 2012 gray Dodge Journey (no tag) was left parked on the roadway. The deputy tried to contact the owner, but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was taken in possession. A hold was placed on the vehicle to show proof of ownership and proof of valid insurance.

Following too closely, no driver’s license/unlicensed operator

• Deputy dispatched in response to a minor vehicle accident located at the exit ramp of I-16 (Westbound) at the intersecting street of US Highway 280 (East). Complainant reports that she was waiting to take a right hand turn onto SR 30 East when she was hit from behind by another driver. The driver in question was arrested and charged with the above offenses.

Verbal Dispute

• Deputies respond to a verbal dispute between ex-partners.

Unsecured load

• Deputies responded to Interstate 16 eastbound near mile marker 143.5 in reference to debris on the roadway. Deputies observed some wood like material debris in the roadway in both lanes going eastbound. They then began clearing debris in the left lane with other deputies on scene. Bryan County Fire Department assisted with moving debris off the roadway that was blocking the right lane. Bryan County Fire Department used a broom and leaf blower to move the rest of debris off the roadway. No driver was near the scene nor located.

August 2

 Speeding in excess of maximum limits, no driver’s license

• Driver arrested for the above offenses.

Passing on shoulder of roadway

• Deputy stops a vehicle who passed on the shoulder of a stopped vehicle in the Oak Level Road stop sign. The driver of the GMC continued to proceed off the roadway to the right but hit the break when he saw the patrol car. Driver stopped, and was found to not have a valid driver’s license. Driver arrested for driving without a license and passing on the shoulder of the roadway.

Civil Matter

• Deputy dispatched in response to an animal bite. Woman reports that her daughter went to take her dog on a walk, and a Great Dane dog came running out and attacked her and her dog. Her daughter suffered injuries to the left hand due to the dog bite and their dog sustained injuries from being bitten. Her daughter was taken to the hospital for treatment and their dog was taken to the vet. On the day of the incident, animal control was called to the scene. Holding/supporting wireless communication, driving while license suspended or revoked, DUI less safe (drugs), warrant served

• Driver arrested for the above offenses.

Failure to dim lights, DUI less safe (drugs)

• Driver cited for the above offenses.

Impeding the flow of traffic, failure to yield the right of way to emergency vehicle, driving while license suspended or revoked • Driver arrested, charged with the above offenses. August 3 Speeding in excess of maximum limits, tag lights required, open container of alcohol in motor vehicle, driving while license suspended or revoked, DUI (0.08 grams or over within 3hrs of driving)

• Driver arrested for the above offenses.

Warrant executed

• Deputy transported a wanted subject that was stopped by Georgia State Patrol to the Bryan County Jail. The subject was wanted out of Chatham County.

Civil Matter

• Deputy responds to a dog bite.

Man reports that he was walking his French Bulldog. While he was walking his dog on the sidewalk, a man walking a black pitbull walked by him. The complainant reports that he greeted the other man but did not receive a response. Both dogs began to bark at each other but never made contact with each other. On his way back home, a black pitbull attacked the complainant’s dog. The complainant said when the pitbull bit his dog, it did not let go. He had to carry both dogs and knock on the door of the pitbull’s owner to get help from the its owner in order to get the man’s dog off of his dog.
