While sunny days are the best parts of summer, they can quickly turn deadly for kids.
This year alone, 10 children have died after being left in a hot car, kidsandcars.org reported. Since 2010, 201 children have had their lives accidentally cut short after suffering a heat stroke from being left inside a car.
Jeff Rossen, a reporter for Today, found out just how dangerous it can be, especially since childrens body temperatures rise up to five times faster than adults'.
If you should notice a child locked in a car, the best way to get him or her out is to use a tire iron to break the window, Rossen said.
A tip to avoid hurting the child, or yourself, in the process is to hit the bottom corner of the window opposite the child, so the glass doesnt shatter over the child's seat.
