The CGC Eagle, the only active tall ship in the U.S. government service, will visit Savannah in late July, the Savannah Waterfront Association has announced.
The 295-foot, steel hull, three-masted sailing vessel is scheduled to arrive on Friday, July 30. The ship has been training future Coast Guard officers for more than a century, even though it has since been fitted with 19th century technology.
The Eagle will be moored at the River Street City Pier, at the base of the Barnard Street Ramp. It will host tours on July 30 (3-5 p.m.) and on July 31 and Aug. 1 (9 a.m.-7 p.m.).
