Fall is here. Many people look forward to this time of year when they can enjoy good weather and participate in outdoor activities.
Fall festivals, or harvest festivals as they often are called, always are popular as the season changes and the air turns crisp. These events offer people a variety of enjoyable activities and good food. 
Members of St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church of Hinesville are busy making plans for their second annual Family Fun Festival, which is scheduled for 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
“Last year, we had between 200 and 300 people, and this year we are expecting an even bigger crowd,” said Amy King, who is serving as the event coordinator. She expects that people will come from other counties to visit the festival this year.
The committee has scheduled plenty of activities, games and entertainment to keep attendees busy. Activities include arts and crafts, children’s games and free fingerprinting for the children, which will be done by the Hinesville Police Department. Carolyn, the pink fire truck that is part of the Pink Heals tour, also will make an appearance at the festival. Hungry festivalgoers can buy hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and sodas.
Proceeds from the festival will be used to buy supplies for the church’s Christian education classes, assist with the building fund and stock the food pantry.
“We will be collecting food for the St. Vincent DePaul Foundation. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable items. They can bring up to 20 and will be given a raffle ticket,” King said. “At the end of the festival, a drawing for a $100 food box will be held.”
The St. Stephen church family invites the public to come out Nov. 5 and join them for a day of fun and festivities.
