Sept. 11 will never be the same in our country again. It always will stand out as the day our country was attacked by terrorists – the day thousands lost their lives and a day that causes many to realize that life is uncertain, even in the United States.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to those who lost loved ones in the attack and for those who have lost family and friends in the wars since 9/11.
Some may ask why God allows such things to happen. This is a common question, but it is one that needs to be put in its proper prospective.
Human beings hurting other human beings is not God’s doing. God only wants the best for mankind. He has given mankind everything it needs to live in peace and harmony with each other, but man has chosen to ignore God and follow his own way. 
The world’s conflicts today are the result of man not allowing God to work his plan for man (Gen. 17-21).
God made man a free moral agent (Joshua 24:15). God does not treat mankind as if people are all robots without choices. He allows us to do what we want. His desire is that we will obey him, but he will not force us to do so.
Man’s greatest enemy is Satan. His every goal is wicked and evil. If he only could be seen as he is described by Peter “as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Then maybe people would take Peter’s advice as is found in the same verse: “Be sober, be vigilant.” 
Adam and Eve were overcome by the lie of Satan, and sin entered the world. They failed to believe God, just as man does today.
When sin entered the world after Adam and Eve disobeyed God, he still cared for them. Yes, they were punished, cast from the beautiful garden, death entering the world, but God still cared (Gen. 3:15).
God began showing man his plan for man’s redemption. When the angel announced the coming birth of Jesus, he told of the mission of Jesus. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins” (Matt. 1:20-23).
If mankind would turn to God and follow his teachings, not adding to them nor taking away from them, the world would be a better place. If all mankind would follow God, we could have world peace that we all would love to see. If that is the problem, mankind fails to follow God, and hate and wickedness are seen in the world.
God was in the beginning and always will be. Just as God cared for Adam and Eve when they sinned, he cares for mankind today when we sin. He left his word with the instructions on how to receive forgiveness.
Sept. 11 never will be forgotten. It was a terrible day, one that showed how terrible sin really is.
God has the answer for sin, but his will must be obeyed. Man is to have faith (Heb. 11:6) to repent of our sins (Luke 13:3). We are to confess Jesus as being the Son of God (Matt. 10:32; Acts 8:37), be baptized for the remission of our sins (Acts 2:38) and then live a life of faithfulness to God (Rev. 2:10b).
