While some churches tend to scale back on activities during the summer months, Live Oak Church of God in Hinesville has a variety of upcoming events planned.
The church’s objective is “to promote a family environment of multicultural and ethnically diverse people from every walk of life regardless of social or economic status where the Holy Spirit is free to move in order to develop the whole person to completeness in Christ.”
Pastor Aaron Cowart said his goal is to meet the needs of Hinesville, Fort Stewart and the surrounding areas through ministry, preaching, teaching, praise, worship, outreach, small group fellowship, discipleship, prayer, multimedia, dance and the arts.
As part of the church’s plan to meet its goal, congregants have planned a concert for 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, June 13. National recording artist Eddie James will perform.
James is a full-time minister who travels around the world conducting workshops, plays, seminars and preaching the gospel. This will be his first concert at Live Oak. Since his debut album, “Higher,” with The Phoenix Mass Choir, James has recorded 10 other projects that have attracted a solid fan base.
His culturally diverse group, ColourBlind, released an album called “The David Story.” It contains 12 chapters of the book of Psalms set to music. The group also recorded a musical production soundtrack called “Break the Walls.” The production was designed with high school and college youth in mind. It deals with issues such as drugs, violence, pre-marital sex, racism and family problems.
ColourBlind has reached thousands of youth in America with their inspiring musical presentation. Through that message of hope, countless lives have been changed.
Live Oak also will have a Celebration of Nations program at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 27. The program will celebrate the 4th of July and the diversity of the people who make up this country and Live Oak Church of God.
The church’s vacation Bible school runs from July 19-23.
Cowart and the Live Oak family invite the public to join them for the summer events and regular worship services at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. For more information, call 876-8769.
